Fissure Bloom

They did not arrive all at once.

At first, the surface fractured—fine lines, almost invisible, spreading slowly across forms that had long since hardened into stillness. Nothing moved. Nothing grew. It was assumed to be the end state.

Then light appeared.

Not from above, but from within. Thin filaments pushing upward through the breaks, testing the air, holding themselves with improbable delicacy against a structure that should not have allowed it.

The shells remain intact, but they are no longer closed systems. Each rupture becomes a point of emergence. Each bloom a quiet defiance of what the material was meant to be.

This is not decay.
It is re-entry.
