They were never designed to emit.

Each structure was tuned—individually at first, then in sequence—to receive. Not sound in any conventional sense, but pressure-patterns carried across distances too large to measure, arriving in fragments, delayed, fractured, and incomplete.

The interiors were lined with responsive strata. Ribbed surfaces that held vibration just long enough to fold it back into itself. What entered did not pass through. It accumulated. It thickened. It learned the shape of its own return.

Over time, the array began to synchronise.

Signals no longer terminated within a single chamber. They bled across the field, slipping between structures, re-entering at altered intervals. What was once reception became recursion. What was once input became presence.

The ground remembers the earliest cycles—when each aperture acted alone.

Now the entire line listens as one body.

And occasionally, without warning, something arrives that does not dissipate.

It holds.
